All-Climate Sun Protection Booster Pack

 E-mailPrintSaveSave as PDF

You might live in a cool or cloudy northern climate, but you travel or vacation in sunny places.  Maybe you ski in the winter, or go to Florida, the desert, or Hawaii or the Carribean.
     For whatever reason, you're not in the same climate all the time and need sun protection that can adjust to where you are.  Your daily sunscreen for wintertime New York just doesn't cut it for vacationing in Mexico.
     This Pack contains five different sunscreens, and I have picked sunscreens that both men and women can use.  They are for different climates and uses:

  • hot and humid - stays on well through sweating and humidity but won't clog pores;
  • hot and dry - for climates that are bone dry - think golfing or hiking in Arizona;
  • city sunscreen - temperate climate - think a spring day in Seattle, Chicago, or Paris;
  • a sports sunscreen for cycling, running, swimming, and hiking in most climates;
  • a great lip sunscreen and moisturizer.

If you do a lot of a particular sport, see our special sport-related Booster Packs for golf/fishing, running/cycling, water sports, and more.

#3All-Climate Sun Booster Pack
All Products: $164.00
I put this Booster Pack together for those of you who want to get your sunscreens in one purchase. This covers different climates as well as everyday use, a sport sunscreen, and protection for your lips.

You can buy the entire Pack of five products, or browse the individual products below.

Sunscreen/Oil Control and Acne Care

Colorescience

SunForgettable Powder SPF 30 - All Clear

Daily/Water/Sports/Melasma - This is a great invention, and I use it all the time. It comes in a small tube, with a self-contained brush. You just shake the powder down, and brush on the powder. The powder stays on your skin, and the high zinc and titanium content gives you great UVA and UVB blocking.

Great for a humid climate (or oily skin), because it goes on dry and leaves no oily, greasy sheen. Expensive, but worth it. Layer it over a sunscreen lotion for maximum protection at altitude or in intense sun.

Sunscreen

La Roche-Posay

Anthelios Sunscreen Cream

Daily/Normal to Dry Skin - Anthelios was one of the first sunscreens to have mexoryl, a UVA blocker that lasts longer in the sun than avobenzone (parsol 1789). Some people like the mexoryl-based sunscreens, because it can also moisturize and because there is no issue of looking chalky or white.

So this sunscreen gives you long-lasting UVA and UVB protection in a moisturizing lotion. Excellent for a very dry climate.

Sunscreen

DermaQuest

Skin Therapy ZinClear SPF 30

Daily/Chemical Free/Sensitive/Melasma - Great for melasma. It has over 18% zinc, so it gives great protection. But it goes on very light and clear, without the chalky look that many zinc sunscreens give you. This is a physical sunscreen, meaning that it contains no sunscreen chemicals. Excellent also for sensitive skin. Expensive, but worth it for the protection without the chalkiness.

Sunscreen

Fallene

CoTZ SPF 58

Sport/Chemical Free/Sensitive/Budget Saver - This sunscreen is a hard-working, high quality product at a great price. It's a mineral sunscreen, with 10% titanium dioxide and 3% zinc oxide, so it gives extremely effective UVA and UVB protection, without all the chemical sunscreen ingredients. It has no fragrances and is good for sensitive skin. Fallene has tinted this slightly, and put the minerals in a lighter base, so it doesn't make you look chalky. It's water resistant and won't sting your eyes.

$10.50

Eye Cream or Lips

Jane Iredale

Lip Drink Lip Balm SPF 15

Lips - My staff loves this product. It is a great lip moisturizer, with sun protection also.
