Moles, Lumps, and Bumps
On of our most popular articles on SkinTour is the one on moles, lumps, and bumps. The 3 most common growths on the face are moles (which come in all shapes, colors and sizes), enlarged oil glands (sebaceous hyperplasia), and milia (small hard “plugs” in pores). There are many other growths though, some of which are skin cancers.
Anything new or changing needs to be looked at by a doctor, preferably a dermatologist. Removing benign (non-cancerous) growths is generally fairly simple for a board certified dermatologist and can be accomplished with very minimal scarring, in most cases. But be aware that insurance does not usually cover removal of benign growths.
