Bumps on my son's face - what to do?Dec 09, 2010 My son is 11 soon to be 12. About 4 months ago he developed a patch of bumps on his face that at first I thought was just acne developing because of his age. The bumps are hard, small and white and can not be popped. I took him to his regular doctor and she said that they were a type of wart that would go away in a few months. Since then a couple of them have been scraped off during rough play and bled when they did. Just in the last 2 weeks he has developed more on other areas of his body. About a dozen on his back, a handful on his chest and 1 or 2 on his leg. Any ideas? Any suggestions for treatment?
Please go back to your dermatologist to get more options for this. These sound like a very, very common problem in children called molluscum contagiosum (caused by a virus like warts). Most of us had these at some point when we were children whether we remember them or not. Again, it would be good to discuss these with your doctor again. Your primary care doctor or pediatrician will be familiar with this problem as well. Dr. I Posted in Lumps bumps moles, 2010
