Can a laser be used for overall volume?

Oct 03, 2010
HI Dr. I, I was wondering what you recommend for overall volume for my face? I lost about 20 pounds 3 years ago, along with turning 40. I have high cheek bones but my eyes and mouth area make me look gaunt and older. I have used fillers for the smile lines and that does help but I need an overall plumping. From your sight I know a laser would be the next thing to do, but which one would give the most volume? I have a month off coming up incase downtime is required but I am interested to get your opinion since I follow your sight closely ;) Thanks for your help.
I think this is a common misconception - that a laser can create volume  - so thanks for asking this!  Lasers are best used on the face for color problems (too red, brown spots), or texture problems like wrinkles, acne scars, leathery sun damaged skin, and a modest improvement in pore size and "glow."  They don't add volume in any significant way.  Volume relates more to changes in the underlying facial fat pads, and changes in our underlying bones of the face as we age.  Volume is best replaced with fillers like Juverderm Ultra Plus, Perlane, Sculptra, etc.   Dr. I
