Is Accutane okay to take?Jun 12, 2010 I've been hearing scary things about the long term side effects of Accutane. Do you agree?
No, I really don't. There's no question that Accutane is a serious medication and the FDA guidelines must be followed absolutely to the letter. If they are, side effects and risks are almost always temporary and not serious. It has also been safely used in tens of thousands (if not more) of patients world wide since the early 1980s and is a godsend for anyone who has the very serious form of cystic, scarring acne. Every few years, it seems like there is a new Accutane scare and many of the them have not turned out to be substantial. Please write again if there is a specific long term side effect about which you are concerned or ask your dermatologist! Dr. I |
