Products for wrinkles.

Aug 24, 2009
Dr. Irwin, I've been using Amlactin on my face and feel that it moisturizes my dry skin quite well, but I'm not sure if it is OK to use on my face. I don't want to wrinkle prematurely because of using a harsh product. What are the effects of using this type of moisturizer on the face? -Alison
Amlactin contains 12% neutralized lactic acid (an alpha hydroxy acid) and is excellent for very dry skin.  It's absolutely fine to use on your face as long as it doesn't irritate you and you are using a sunscreen every morning on your face.  Over time it will have a slight anti-aging effect so no worries on premature wrinkles from it.   It's not terribly "cosmetically elegant" but who cares if it's doing the job and it's a good price!  Dr. I
