You're right that these are usually genetic in that these pesky bumps track with oily skin, large pores and acne (at least in the teens).  The first thing you want to do is make a medical appointment with a good dermatologist for an accurate skin exam and diagnosis.  Make sure the doctor also does remove these.   It's frustrating to go in only to be told that particular office doesn't do the removal also.
