Thin Skin and Dark Circles Under EyesMay 08, 2009 Hello, I'm in Australia and I love your site, thank you for it. I have thin skin around my eyes and also dark circles. I tried botox once but I looked like I had small hallows on the outer corners of my eyes. My Dr said it's just that I have thin skin and maybe I should consider a filler like restylane. I wondered if there are any products that can help thicken the skin around the eyes? Is botox not suitable if you have thin skin? Thanks Megan You're welcome!! Hmmm - it's a bit tough because I can't see the problem but, in general, Botox doesn't cause hollows to occur if it's injected evenly around the eye area. If it weren't even, it's possible to get some muscle fibers pulling while others aren't which could create unevenness. If the skin around the eye area is very thin, Restylane may show through causing a slightly lumpy, bluish look. Not attractive!!! Good products may help a little. Sunscreen, of course, to avoid more sun damage. Try Dermalogica Total Eye Care SPF 15 to use on the lids and crow's foot area. Also, a repair product with Retinol, light AHA, or growth factors would be helpful. Try the Neostata Eye Cream - not expensive, or the TNS Night Eye Repair - expensive. Other than that, you're best bet are lasers that build collagen like the Fraxel fractionated Erbium (Restore) or the fractionated CO2 (Active Fx by Lumenis) are the best, in my opinion. |
