Okay so this is getting a little complicated and is taking a little longer than I'd hoped.  Here's why.  I have and have had for some time medical grade roller needles of different depths in my office that I've been experimenting with (ie not charging for this service).   Since there isn't much data and I don't trust before and after pictures unless I really know the source, I've tried these in different ways to see if I can get similiar results to their pics.  So far, the answer is no but perhaps I just haven't done enough.   

Now out come "direct to consumer" roller needles devices.  We tried finding the manufacturer on SkinMedix to no avail so we've order one so I can look at it and see who makes it and if it's simliar to the ones I have in my office.   Then we may be able to get information from the company to see if they can back up their claims. 

In my mind, there are really 4 questions here.   1) Do the roller needles consistently offer any benefit by themselves; 2) If so, what is the best protocol for using them (how often, how deep, etc); 3) Do they really enhance absorption of other products (seems like they would) and 4)  Does that really offer any benefit to you?   Maybe increased absorption just makes a product more irritating, for example.    We may never get great anwers to these questions but I'll keep you posted.   Dr. I
