What is the best treatment for under eye crinkles?

May 06, 2010
What is the best treatment for the under eye crinkles? Is it thermage or fillers or retin a or something else? Thanks, Bonnie

This is such a complicated question because it depends on sooooo many factors.  I'll try to make a long story short!  But, please see the section on eyes on this site.

If you just have a "hollow" under eye area with a few crinkles, a little Restylane with an expert injector might be perfect.   If you have a fat pad just under the eyelashes with a hollow area under that this will still work but if you have a fat pad that has slipped down further, this is probably not a good option.  You may need surgery.

If the contour of your eye area is good (no hollows or bulges), then just tighening the skin with Thermage, Fraxel or Deka DOT Co2 fractionated laser is best.  Choose Thermage if you are young (30s) and have very few crinkles, Fraxel Restore if you are 40ish and have a few more crinkles and the CO2 "DOT" laser if you have moderate to severe crinkles (usually 50+).   I'm just about to put a whole new section on fractionated CO2 lasers up on this site in the next few weeks.

Retin A is usually too irritating to put right on the eyelids.           Dr. I
