What products are safe in pregnancy?Jan 19, 2010 What types of skin care products would you recommend during pregnancy? I normally use a gentle cleanser, toning pads with salicylic acid, and an anti-aging moisturizer with salicylic acid (all over-the-counter products). I have problems with clogged pores, whiteheads and blackheads. I'm 41 years old with combination skin. Thank you for any recommendations. :) I recommend a very conservative approach during pregnancy. Skin care products generally pose very little risk but, if you have a child with a birth defect, you just don't want to look back and wonder if you should have done something differently. So, with that in mind use products with glycolic acid (made from sugar cane), most moisturizers and cleansers (organic probably even better), suncreens with zinc (a natural mineral), mineral make-ups, organic body lotions (try Eminence Honeydew or Mimosa - SkinTour.com), light exfoliants (try the Dermatologica made with rice powder - SkinTour.com). I'd avoid products with salicylic acid unless your OB approves it. Dr. I Posted in Pregnancy
