During chemotherapy, can I use Sculptra?
In general, Sculptra during chemotherapy is not a good idea because it works by stimulating your own cells (fibroblasts) to make collagen. During chemo, the cells all over your body tend to become less active. There have been no studies, and there shouldn’t be safely issues…..it’s just that you would unlikely to get a good result. You don’t want to waste your money!
A better choice during this time, if you would like a treatment, would be a hyaluronic acid flller like Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane, Voluma, etc. They work right away and don’t depend on your cells to make collagen.
Hope this helps, Dr. I
