Good question and I’m certainly not an expert on this.  Most things I’ve read point to 6-8 glasses a day but I’ve never seen any research at all on it.  Interestingly, some vitamins are water soluable (for example, the B vitamins) and it’s possible to create mild vitamin deficiencies by drinking too much water.  More may not be better!  Dr. I
