Products for over 40 oily skin & acne.

I have oily skin and aging. I did not have acne when I was a teen, but now that I am in my 50's, I have adult acne. I am not sure what products I can use.I need everything from cleansers to acne products, moisturizer. thank you . I really enjoy your site. Krista

Thank you!    This is a tough one, as you know, because most acne products are formulated for 16 y.o. skin.   The best regimen needs to be customized for you, but here are some ideas to get you started.   See your dermatologist if the below isn’t effective enough for you!

AM

PM

  • Cleanser as above
  • Vit B5 Gel Moisturizer
  • Skin Medica Retinol  (start with this and eventually have your doctor write you a prescription for the stronger forms.   More on retinoids.

Remember:

  • Start one product at a time a few days apart just in case one is irritating
  • It can take about 8-10 weeks to see a difference
  • Stop a product if it’s irritating

Hope this helps,  Dr. I

SkinTour Skincare
One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes! I have handpicked some of what I consider to be the best skin care products, and offer them for sale on SkinTour's shop. This is based on my team and I's testing and research at our clinic. Many of the products are in my own regimen. What could be better than using skin care products a dermatologist uses?!
