Is there a skin care cream for volume loss, and how can I improve my skin generally?
A skin care cream for volume loss?
Di – thank you and in answer to your question……it’s sad but there really is no skin care cream for volume loss etc……at this point in time no lotion or skin care cream can correct volume loss. Generally, dermal fillers like Juvederm are the best answer for this problem. You can read my Guide to Fillers like Juvederm, Restylane etc, my article on How to Avoid Bruising with Fillers, my article on Filler Mistakes and How to Fix Them, and my blog posts on filler problems first. And pick a doctor carefully with safety in mind!
For general skin care that will make your skin glow, here is my skin care regimen. And you can go to our Topics index to read a number of my articles on skin care and skin care products.
And here are three ideas you may not have thought of that make a difference.
- A hat you really love and will wear everywhere
Even just a baseball hat protects your scalp. Case in point, my sister-in-law) just had a skin cancer surgery on her scalp! A baseball hat protects your forehead and your nose from sun damage which causes brown spots, wrinkles and skin cancers. And all hats protect your scalp.
A large full brim is even better for protecting your face and neck. Try them! Find ones that you love and will actually wear. Here are some ideas for women’s hats at Nordstrom.
- A high zinc (7-20 %) ) sunscreen.
If there is only one thing that you do, this needs to be it! Why? Because UVA is present every day even if it’s not sunny and goes through window glass, including your car. Most sunscreens do NOT block this well……despite what they say on the label. The words broad spectrum do not mean that UVA is blocked.
Zinc is the ONLY sunscreen ingredient that blocks the full UVA spectrum. And it needs to be 7-20% depending on where you live and how much you are in your car or outside. The DermaQuest sunscreens are high zinc, as are the Elta MD sunscreens.
3. Sunglasses that wrap around the sides.
Most of us look away from the sun – not directly into it – so light hits the sides of our face more often. Wrinkles around the eyes are caused by a combination of sun damage, muscle action when we smile, and loss of support by the bone, fat and skin over time. You can really reduce that first one by making sure your sun glasses wrap around the sides, especially for sports and using a specific eye area sunscreen.
Hope this helps you with info on skin care in general and whether there is a skin care cream for volume loss.
