We are hispanic and my 8 y.o. daughter is getting too tan in the sun!

Hello! I have an eight yr old daughter who gets very tanned in just a few min out in thesun. We r hispanic and have tan skin but she gets very dark. I've tried blue lizard, neutragena ultra sheer spf 100, aveeno spf 100 and many others but nothing seem to work. I know blue lizard has zinc oxide but she still gets very dark. My other kids have tan skin as well but don't get nearly as dark as she does when we go to the beach or simply just being out in the sun. Not sure what else to try? Please advise. Thanks! Please see the video just below this…….”How the Sun Sees You.”  It’s great and will maybe help her understand also why tanning isn’t a good idea.

Make sure you’re using the best Blue Lizard sunscreen on her.   You want at least 10-20% zinc oxide or a combination of titanium and zinc oxide.   The Blue Lizard Regular and the Blue Lizard Sport only have 6%.  The Blue Lizard Sensitive is the best with 10% zinc and 5% titanium.    More on sunscreen questions.

Also, really try to get her to wear a hat as much as you can and a surfer skin when she’s at the beach.

Sunscreen products.

Hope this helps,  Dr. I

SkinTour Skincare
One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes!
