What about IPL for melasma?

Is IPL an effective treatment for melasma? How does it compare to fractional laser or microdermabrasions? I've read conflicting information regarding IPL for melasma.

Please, please avoid this one.  IPL in most patients with melasma is more likely to worsen it than improve it.   In very rare instances, if you have very light skin (like a redhead), and you are at an expert center with a certain pre and post treatment creams, you might see some improvement.  Here is some more detailed information about melasma and treatments for this skin condition. Dr. I

One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes!
