With Restylane, will anything make it last longer? I’m asking for my mom.

My mom takes Restylane filler injection every 6 months on her doctor recommendation but it costs lot of money each time! so here is my question: is there any product (such as peptides or other skin care products) to make the the Restylane effect longer from 6 months to 9months or 1 year...?..Regards!

First of all, it’s very sweet of you to be looking out for your mom!! She’s lucky to have you.

There’s no product to put on the surface of the skin that will make Restylane last longer but… there are forms of both Restylane and Juvederm which are more highly crosslinked and last longer. The Restylane version is called Perlane and the Juvederm version is called Juvederm Ultra Plus. Both are FDA approved in the U.S. These should last closer to 9 months. Learn more information about Perlane and Juvederm Ultra Plus.

Also, in Europe and other parts of the world, there is a longer lasting form called Voluma which is not FDA approved here yet but may be approved in the next year or so (hard to predict) and lasts even longer – 9-12 months.

Sometimes it’s tempting to use “permanent” fillers like silicone or Artefill (little plastic beads). Readers PLEASE don’t do this. They can be unpredictable and a complication or problem lasts the rest of your life and isn’t correctible except with surgery, which is not a good option.

Hope this helps,  Dr. B I

SkinTour Skincare
One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes! I have handpicked some of what I consider to be the best skin care products, and offer them for sale on SkinTour's shop. This is based on my team and I's testing and research at our clinic. Many of the products are in my own regimen. What could be better than using skin care products a dermatologist uses?!
