For oily and acne prone

Acne and oil may be the main skin issues for you right now. If you're female, your acne may get worse right before your periods. The acne may leave red spots that take a while to clear or, if you have dark eyes or dark hair, your acne may leave irritating dark spots that take a month or two to clear.

The products in this Kit will help control acne and oil and also help heal the red and brown spots faster.

Remember that it takes a full 6-8 weeks for acne to get better. So don’t be discouraged if you’re not better in two weeks – you might even get worse temporarily (remember those hormones). Stick with it, the results will come. Definitely see a dermatologist if your acne persists or you have scarring.

If you're not sure whether this regimen is right for you, take the Acne Test or the more detailed Skin Care Test.  Also please see my Acne In Depth article.

I picked the products in this Kit to help control your acne and blotchiness. And its products won't clog your pores or promote oil. This regimen gives you a potent cleansing gel, specialized acne and oil control products, and a non-clogging sunscreen. Plus a Skin Perfecting Pen to treat those brown and red spots.

It's best to use these products together in a regimen, but you can also browse through the individual products below.

Cleanser/Oil Control and Acne Care

MD Forte

Glycare Cleansing Gel

Oily/Acne/Budget Saver - This is a potent alpha hydroxy-based cleansing gel that fights acne.

$11.95

Oil Control and Acne Care

Solvere

Acne Clearing Gel

Oily/Acne Prone - This benzoyl peroxide-based lotion helps to dry up oil, kill the bacteria that aggravate acne, and keep the pores from clogging. Use with a salicylic acid product for optimal results (like the Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion). Sometimes stains pillowcases - best used in the mornings.

$36.00

Oil Control and Acne Care

Dermalogica

Oil Control Lotion with Salicylic Acid

Oil Control/Acne - This lightweight lotion is compatible with other oil control products and helps to create a matte finish that lasts much of the day. Contains salicylic acid, which helps to dissolve blackheads and whiteheads.

$49.50

Sunscreen/Oil Control and Acne Care

Colorescience

SunForgettable Powder SPF 30 - All Clear

Daily/Water/Sports/Melasma - This is a great invention, and I use it all the time. It comes in a small tube, with a self-contained brush. You just shake the powder down, and brush on the powder. The powder stays on your skin, and the high zinc and titanium content gives you great UVA and UVB blocking.

Great for a humid climate (or oily skin), because it goes on dry and leaves no oily, greasy sheen. Expensive, but worth it. Layer it over a sunscreen lotion for maximum protection at altitude or in intense sun.

Evening Products

$20.90

Cleanser/Oil Control and Acne Care

MD Forte

Glycare Cleansing Gel

Oily/Acne/Budget Saver - This is a potent alpha hydroxy-based cleansing gel that fights acne.

$27.00

Anti-Aging and Wrinkle Repair/Oil Control and Acne Care

Neostrata

Ultra Smoothing Lotion 10 AHA

Oily/Alpha Hydroxy - This lotion is better than the Ultra Smoothing Cream if your skin is quite oily and acne prone. This light, nongreasy lotion helps keep the skin smooth and to reverse sun damage by building collagen and speeding natural exfoliation. Use a small amount over entire face. Good choice for teens to early 30s. Budget saver.

$25.00

Oil Control and Acne Care

Cellex-C

Skin Pefecting Pen

Acne Spot Care - This little tool is a godsend if you have periodic breakouts. It is used on individual lesions and helps to dry up even the most resistant acne. Use on acne spots only.
