Body Thermage - Does It Work?

Feb 26, 2009

Loose skin on the abdomen, upper arms, the thighs, over the glutes -- most of us have some we'd like to tighten up.

Thermage and some centers have been promoting body Thermage for several years with, in my opinion, poor results. $3,000 - $3,500 is a lot to pay for little or no improvement. At that price, it better be quite good. The reason it wasn't good? Thermage was trying to adapt tips (1.5-3.0 cm) originally developed for the face to the body. And, the treatments could be excruciatingly long and quite painful.

At last though, Thermage has a true body tip that looks promising. It's a 16 cm tip specifically designed for the thicker skin on the body. I had my abdomen treated, and it's mildly uncomfortable (I thought about 3 on a scale of 1-10 with a few spots more zingy). The treatments (depending on the size of the area) should take 1-2 hours. I can already see some tightening (none with the previous tips), and it will tighten more over the next 3-6 months.

Bottom line:  it's worth considering now.  I'l keep you posted as we test it.
