Clean up Your Leg Veins this Winter

Oct 23, 2009
Fall and winter are the best time to clean up leg veins or spider veins since usually your legs will look worse for a week or two after your treatment. Then they gradually get better. It can even take 2-3 months to see the full results of one treatment.

Many cosmetic dermatologists treat smaller leg veins (sometimes called "spiders") and small blue veins (reticular veins). Both types are superficial. If you have large, bulging true varicose veins, look for a vascular surgeon who uses a catheter with a laser on the tip (endovenous catheter ablation). Generally, there are fewer complications with this method.

See Dr. Irwin's new article on leg veins.
