Exfoliating Before Applying Self-Tanner

Sep 25, 2009
You can extend some summer color into the fall with a self-tanner.  Last week I recommended the Giese "Sun" self-tanner.  What about exfoliating before applying the self-tanner?

The most luxurious, expensive way is to let someone else do it! Call your favorite salon/spa that has body treatments and schedule a whole body scrub. Some of them are heavenly, and your skin will feel like satin.

If that's too time consuming or expensive, buy a sugar or salt based body scrub. Beware of the ones with oils in them. They can leave a slippery film all over your shower area. Then, use your hands to scrub away those dead cells. Don't forget to do it twice over your elbows, knees, ankles, and feet. Use a soft, brush with a long handle for the back. Then towel off and apply the self-tanner. Your skin will feel so smooth, and the self-tanner should last much longer and be even.
