Holiday Skin - The Sequel

Nov 24, 2010

But just in case all the best plans failed, you did overdo it, and are now paying the price through your skin. Here's what to do if your skin is looking pasty, too red, or breaking out.

Sallow/pasty - Usually from too much alcohol, stress, and not enough sleep. Rev up your circulation in general with exercise, a massage, a hot bath or steam your face gently. Apply a ton of moisturizer and massage it in several times - then makeup. One other trick: try just a small bit of self-tanner, just a tiny dab rubbed in well to give you a little bit of color.

Too red - Usually due to a rosacea flare after too much alcohol or too much wind/cold. Stop alcohol for a night or two, use your rosacea meds if needed, and try a soothing, anti-inflammatory masque.

Breaking out - use a salicylic acid wash and spot treat with a product like Cellex-C Skin Perfecting Pen.

 Happy Thanksgiving!
