Natural Scrubs - A Homemade One Too!

Jul 24, 2011
I like to look for products, in general, that are environmentally friendly.  In other words, that contain mostly or all natural or organic ingredients.  Some skin care products categories just don't have many natural or organic products that are also effective.  In the scrub category though, it's pretty easy to find them!

Budget: Make one yourself.  Use 1/4 cup coconut milk (use the more solid part), 1-2 cups Kosher salt to a paste, add 2 drops Vanilla, 1 T honey, 1 T oatmeal.  Works well!

Affordable: Alba pineapple enzyme facial scrub $12.99 -  A little coarser granules so be careful not to over scrub and irritate yourself.  Also, has some enzymes that help loosen dead skin cells.  Has a "Hawaian" fragrance added but not too strong.  Can be used both face and body but again, be gentle on the face - no more than twice a week. Drugstore.

Most expensive: Dermatologica Daily Microfoliant $50  -  I like this product because it gives a gentle (i.e., won't irritate you) scrub and can be used on the face or body.  It has rice grains, enzymes that help shed dead skin cells, and a little salicylic acid which does the same.   Gentle enough to use every other day on oily skin or acne prone skin.  If you have senstive skin, you should try this to see how well you tolerate it. If your skin is pretty dry, don't use this more than once a week. No fragrance.
