Toenail Fungus and Nail Polish - Do They Mix?

Sep 03, 2009
Yes! It's okay to put nail polish on infected nails but remember, you're not curing it, you're just covering it up.

Best is to use the prescription Penlac (now available in an inexpensive generic - less than $20 at Costco) medicated clear polish as a base coat. Put 2 coats of this on the nails and then your polish over it. File the nail down per directions with the Penlac (over the toilet) before applying polish. Change the polish every 2 weeks.

Try to go without polish in the winter so you can use the Penlac more often as directed in the instructions. This will at least help control it even if unlikely to cure it.

There were lots of searches for Latisse on SkinTour.  Allergan's marketing must be having an effect!  See Dr. Irwin's opinion of Latisse.
