Growths on my face – what are these?

Hi doctor, I am a 56 year old male and have these things popping up on my face. They look like a pimple but they have a hole in the center. they are not a pimple and I am concerned what they may be. Thanks Dan M.

I’m going to try to steer you in the right direction but I really want you to have these checked by your doctor sometime in the next month. Usually, but not always, skin cancers occur one at a time. However, I’ve seen many patients who come in for multiple growths that all look the same to them but they are NOT all the same to me (a dermatologist) they look different and one or two of them on biopsy turn out to be skin cancers. So please don’t assume, go get them checked.

There are many different growths that can occur on the face including moles of all different sizes, colors and shapes, sebaceous hyperplasia (enlarged oil glands), small growths called seborrheic keratoses (small brown and warty looking), as well as precancerous lesions and and skin cancers, just to name a few. You see the problem!!!

Happy holidays!  Dr. I

SkinTour Skincare
One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes! I have handpicked some of what I consider to be the best skin care products, and offer them for sale on SkinTour's shop. This is based on my team and I's testing and research at our clinic. Many of the products are in my own regimen. What could be better than using skin care products a dermatologist uses?!
