Dermatologist Dr. Irwin:
What is beauty? Beauty has always been culturally defined. In other words, it depends on what country, what ethnicity, what age, what period in history… If we look at the way we define beauty now, it’s much more inclusive than it used to be. From that blonde, blue-eyed, kind of rigid definition… We include many more ethnicities; we include many more imperfections. Maybe that last barrier is age. True beauty is unique and we must celebrate that in all of us. To try to look like someone else or to feel a loss of confidence or self-esteem because we don’t look like a celebrity…that’s a tragic waste of our time and our life energy. I see the beauty in my patients’ faces in the office often more than they do. And I think that that is not uncommon among women, that we don’t fully appreciate our own beauty. At the end of the day, if I could wish for anything in this realm, I would wish for the appreciation for the unique beauty in each individual and have us not try to necessarily mimic someone else’s beauty because it’s really in our own individual beauty that our own spirit and soul shines through.

One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes!
