How can I get the most out of my products?

Hi Dr. Irwin, Love, Love your site. Great information. I like to use TNS Recovery complex in my skincare regime. Like a lot of people the budget is tight. Is it OK to use this product once a day and still get some benefit.

Sorry about the silence on this end.  We were on spring break with our children. Thank you and you raise a good point!

There are a few products now that most of us are using that provide clear benefits (both the science and experience) so the question of how to get the most from them is a good one.  Most of us aren’t going to apply products more than twice a day –  we are busy!!!  Morning and night seems to work well for most of us.   How do we layer these or alternate them since there isn’t much science on how they might interact with each other? Here is my skin care advice:

So on the TNS, my vote is to use it once a day – and yes you will get benefit from that.  Some patients like to start with it twice a day for the first month or two to see more of the effect but most of us are using it once in order to have time/room for other products.  So for example, I often use it under my Renova (Vit A cousin) at night – but wait a few minutes in between.  In the sunnier/outdoorsier months, I use more antioxidant and sunscreen and cut the retinoid (Renova etc) down to 1-2 week because the Renova increases sun sensitivity a little.  TNS is a good night option then with your antioxidant under your sunscreen in the morning.  I’m sure you see the logic.

Hope this helps!

I just updated my skincare routine for spring/summer. Dr. I

SkinTour Skincare
One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes! I have handpicked some of what I consider to be the best skin care products, and offer them for sale on SkinTour's shop. This is based on my team and I's testing and research at our clinic. Many of the products are in my own regimen. What could be better than using skin care products a dermatologist uses?!
