Does anything work to permanently remove facial hair??

Dr. Irwin, I am 60 years old, have dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. I have been seeing a lot about the device, No-No. I have some dark facial hair on my chin that comes out pretty often as I have gotten older. It is like a stuble hair texture. I was wanting to know if you have an opinion on this device and if it really works to permantly remove facial hair. I have been thinking about purchasing this. I would appreciate any information you could give me. Thank you so much that people can ask you these important questions. Have a Blessed Day!

Okay …….. so there’s good news and bad news about this.  The bad news first.  Nothing, absolutely nothing, can permanently remove every hair and all hair, not even lasers.

The good news…….there are now relatively inexpensive ways to remove most of it so that you are free from having to shave, wax or pluck all the time.  A quick bottom line and more info.

  •  Try electrolysis if you only have a few hairs or the hairs are grey.  You must find a good, experienced person because the scars and infection are possible if not done well.
  • Lasers are more time and cost efficient when you have more hair.  They work best if there is a contrast between the hair and skin color. They don’t work on grey hair.  You will need more treatments if you have darker hair with darker skin. An Nd:Yag laser is safer for very dark skin types.  For light to medium skin types, the Alexandrites and Diodes are better.  You must find an experienced, ethical clinic with a full-time dermatologist or plastic surgeon on site.  You risk infections, burns, scars and wasted money with lasers.
  • You always have the option to wax, sugar or shave.  Constant plucking usually causes irritation.
  •  In my opinion, most of the home use devices are not powerful enough to be very effective yet, including the No-No, but you can get decent results if you are willing to spend the time to get these to work well.  These may also cause burns, infections and scars.

SkinTour Skincare
One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes! I have handpicked some of what I consider to be the best skin care products, and offer them for sale on SkinTour's shop. This is based on my team and I's testing and research at our clinic. Many of the products are in my own regimen. What could be better than using skin care products a dermatologist uses?!
