Is the Accent system a good way to tighten skin under the chin?

Dr Irwin I want to try to tighten the skin under my chin. My dermotologist center says accent lazer is the best way to go with a series a 6 treatments over 6 months. What do you think. is accent the best way to go?

The Accent system is a radiofrequency (read sound waves) based system that uses as it’s marketing point that it uses 2 types of waves in the same system.  In my opinion, there really is no proof that it works any better than the other radiofrequency systems on the market like Thermage.  And in situations like this, I tend to favor the system that has the longest proven track record.  Also Thermage is 1 or 2 treatments as opposed to 6.  I’d love to see a company develop something better.

The question is more will you benefit from this treatment.  These treatments offer the best results to younger patients (read 30-50ish) who have just very minimal loose skin around the jawline and under the chin.  And if the problem is  a prominent fat pad under the chin, the sound wave based systems are generally not effective.  Hope this helps,  Dr. I

SkinTour Skincare
One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes! I have handpicked some of what I consider to be the best skin care products, and offer them for sale on SkinTour's shop. This is based on my team and I's testing and research at our clinic. Many of the products are in my own regimen. What could be better than using skin care products a dermatologist uses?!
