Vitamin C – Can it be mixed from a powder?

How effective is 100% Vitamin C powder compare to vitamin C serum? ie 100% L-ascorbic acid powder mix into sunscreen or moisturiser. Your answer will be appreciated. Many thanks. Sue

Sue – I’m going to assume that you are mixing the powder with water and keeping it no more than a week for each batch.  I’ve never seen a study on these but I think I wouldn’t mix it with sunscreen or moisturizers because it would change the pH of the Vitamin C which would alter drastically how easily it can be absorbed by your skin cells.  Also, the ingredients in the creams could interact with the Vitamin C in ways that are unpredictable.  Why not just mix it and put it directly on the skin, let it absorb a bit and then apply your moiturizer, etc.? One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes! I have handpicked some of what I consider to be the best skin care products, and offer them for sale on SkinTour's shop. This is based on my team and I's testing and research at our clinic. Many of the products are in my own regimen. What could be better than using skin care products a dermatologist uses?!
