Your best skincare regimen. How to figure it out.

I'm wondering if you have heard of the skin care line from South Korea called Sculplla. Professional esthetician performed mask and then home use mist, cream and serum. This is being promoted as skin care which gives results like an injectable filler.

Thank you for writing.  I love the inventiveness of marketers but………can I just say this, and I know it will ring true to all of you.  THERE IS NO CREAM, SERUM OR MIST that penetrates deep enough, or in enough quantity to match the results of well done injectables, lasers or some sound wave based devices.

To find the best skincare regimen for you either:

  • Find a great dermatologist and clinic who can help you;
  • See regularly an experienced aesthetician who can help you ;
  • Experiment yourself in a way that makes sense.

If you want to experiment yourself, here’s how:

Get a notebook or a fun journal you can keep notes in.  First establish your basics.  What do you know is working well for you?  Write it down.  Start with an AM and a PM regimen. Make notes on every product you try, so you can remember later ones that you loved, and also the ones you rejected.

Choose your cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen first.   When you have those three products that are working well for you, with no irritation, then you can start to build on it.  Add only ONE PRODUCT AT A TIME A WEEK APART.   So next add an antioxidant under your sunscreen in the morning.   Then try to find a vitamin A cousin (retinol or tretinoin) that you can tolerate at night.  When all that’s good, you can keep adding slowly. Serums go under lotions or creams.  Don’t forget that your eye area, neck, chest and hands are usually more sensitive than the face.  You may need different products for those areas.

Below is a format that helps me.

AM Regimen:

Cleanser: Eminence Lemon Cleanser
Repair/Anti-aging Face: SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF Gel or Dermaquest C Infusion Serum (if more sensitive)
Repair/Anti-aging Neck and Chest: Lytera Pigment Correcting Serum then Image Prevention SPF 30 Sunscreen (untinted) (zinc 18%)
Moisturizer: Pevonia Ligne Myoxy Caviar
Sunscreen: Dermaquest Sheer Zinc SPF 30 (tinted) (zinc 18%)
Eyes & Lips: Pevonia Ligne Yeux
PM Regimen:

Cleanser: Eminence Lemon Cleanser
Eyes & Lips Treatment: Pevonia Ligne Yeux or Revision DEJ Eye Cream
Moisturizer: Pevonia Marine Collagen Cream
Repair/Anti-aging Face: SkinMedica Retinol Complex 0.25%

SkinTour Skincare
One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes! I have handpicked some of what I consider to be the best skin care products, and offer them for sale on SkinTour's shop. This is based on my team and I's testing and research at our clinic. Many of the products are in my own regimen. What could be better than using skin care products a dermatologist uses?!
