What Men Want in a Skin Care Product

Many of our male patients prefer products that are less moisturizing (read less oily). Many men don’t like a creamy or heavier feel on the skin and don’t want to look shiny or as if they have a product on.  If you are in that group, then look for products that are gel based or have a light lotion base. Stay away from the creams.

For example, the Hydrating B5 Gel moisturizer from SkinCeuticals is not oily at all. It goes on very light and men like it a lot.  For a suncreen, the EltaMD UV Clear is a high-quality transparent zinc sunscreen that is very light. The EltaMD UV Daily is a light sunscreen that gives a bit of moisturizing but is not heavy or oily at all.  Many men with normal or drier skin love that sunscreen for daily use.  Many of our males patients also like the powder sunscreens like the Colorescience.

Another route is to look for products that are formulated for people with acne.  Those products tend to be lighter and less creamy as well. They often say noncomedogenic on them.

SkinTour Skincare
One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes! I have handpicked some of what I consider to be the best skin care products, and offer them for sale on SkinTour's shop. This is based on my team and I's testing and research at our clinic. Many of the products are in my own regimen. What could be better than using skin care products a dermatologist uses?!
