The Picosure laser (Cynosure) for resurfacing??
In my opinion, there is a whole truckload more data and experience with a fractionated CO2 in expert hands. More on CO2.
The “pico” technology of the Picosure delivers ultra, ultra short pulses of energy and was developed originally to be a better tattoo removal laser. It hasn’t done that well for that market, and I sometimes wonder if the company is trying it for other things to see if it can create more of a market for it. My vote would be to wait on this and go for the more tried and true for now.
See the next question though because the fractionated CO2 lasers can be used very aggressively by some doctors with a higher risk of side effects. In my opinion, moderate settings give good results without as much risk of other problems.
Hope this helps, Dr. I
