Many of our patients understandably have a hard time with this. Here are the most common issues and how to treat:
Horizontal lines (“necklace lines”) – Botox/Dysport or very expertly done fillers.
The ropey vertical bands (platysmal) – Botox and sometimes surgery if very lax. It’s counterintuitive but many bands are tight, and the Botox/Dysport relaxes the band back up into position.
Fat pad under chin – Kybella (see last week’s tip) or surgery.
Thin, crepey skin with poor elasticity – start building the collagen and thickness of the skin with nonsurgical RF devices like Exilis, Thermage, etc. There are several devices pending that will treat this area better, but in my opinion, not yet ready for mass use.
The above is just a rough guide – please discuss with your dermatologist carefully.
