Does TNS Recovery Complex take the place of retinoid and an antioxidant?
Good question but no! They all do different things. To make a long story short:
- The retinoid mainly normalizes sun damaged cells, promotes healthy cell maturation in the outer layer (epidermis) and promotes collagen growth in the upper deep layer (dermis);
- The antixoxidant helps mainly to protect skin cells DNA from damage from light (no sunscreen blocks it all), and possibly helps reduce inflammation from other environmental insults, including ones that cause excess pigment formation;
- The TNS Recovery is less well studied but contains the growth factors from very young skin cells grown in the lab. It probably promotes skin cell turnover and health but is difficult to quantify because it’s difficult to know exactly which growth factors, cytokines, etc. are in the mixture.
Hope this helps, Dr. I
