If I’m 30, how do I best prevent wrinkles around my eyes?

Dear Dr Irwin, I am a 30 year old female, have fair hair, green eyes and sensitive skin. Two years ago I started noticing fine lines under my eyes as well as crows feet, and have been using Active C from La Roche Posay night and day, and Renova during the winter nights. Would this regime be fine, or could you suggest any better options? Many thanks and regards

Learn more about the best skin care products for the eye area. On the prevention issues for eyelid skin also consider, especially if you are an outdoor person, that sunscreen that Dermalogica makes for the eye area specifically and then be sure to use sunglasses as much as you can as well.

 

Wrinkles around the eyes are complicated because some are caused by the muscle movement (consider Botox for this later possibly), some are caused by the usual suspects like allergies, sun damage and puffiness from various things, and some are caused by gradual loss of volume (fat, dermis) as we age. At age 30, you might start to think about doing one gentle eyelid treatment per year that builds collagen like the eyelid Thermage or Fraxel, both have FDA tips approved for eyelid skin. It’s great that you’re thinking about prevention now at 30!!
