What to do when your friends keep trying to sell you skincare on Facebook? Ultimately Skincare Marketing.

First of all……..that sounds really annoying! Vertical marketing companies seem to be proliferating.   Some think they are Ponzi schemes. And, if the people selling them are amassing whole garages full of products to try to meet quotas, then there is a real problem. But, what can you do or say, short of unfriending someone which might be a bit harsh?

As for the quality issue, generally products sold in doctor’s offices are more transparent about what’s in them, and the quality and amount of the active ingredients slightly better. But this isn’t always true. Sadly, for consumers, it’s not transparent at all, unless the product clearly states the percentages of the active ingredients on the front, and you can read the labels for the inactives (the “base”) of the products.

Other Facebook strategies:

• If it’s on your wall, you could just ask them to stop or delete the post
• What about unfollowing them? This will do if you don’t want to raise a big concern and upset anyone.
• You could post that you are deathly allergic to most skincare products and that might do it!  🙂
• Seems to me that it’s kinda breaking the social code by trying to sell your friends stuff on FB.  Could be an interesting FB discussion.
