Can different hair removal lasers have different results, even if they are both diode lasers?
I really hope you answer the question because there isnt any help around that i can ask about the same. Doctor i chose for a hair removal for mt body the machi e used was luminous diode laser, it proved to be effective as soon as the procedure was done, hair roots used to come out and burn but the doctor changed the machine. Its is diode only but a different brand named starlwarts. The burning of roots as it used to happen earlier does not happen with this machine nor there is any smell or fume. I have undergone 5 sittings for my arms but the growth has bevome darker and coarser but not reduced. Please can you suggest me what to do? Should i continue undergoing it or change the place because each sitting is very painful for me even after the numbing cream since its not effecting what shoul I do? Please please answer my query I am really helpless at the moment
Yes – they can have different results! Diode lasers have been used for years and use semiconductor technology that can be “tuned” to different wavelengths The most common wavelength for hair removal is at or very close to 800 nm.
Even if both lasers that you mentioned above are tuned to 800 nm, they may have different results to other variables in the laser like the peak power, the “width” of the laser pulse, the shape of the pulse itself, and other physics stuff that I find interesting ……..and I’m pretty sure most of you don’t! 🙂
There are two bottom lines on this:
- First, they may be different, try going back to the first laser. See if you have someone in your city who has the Lumenis Light Sheer which was the first one you used. And…….ask your doctor why he/she thinks there is a difference.
- Secondly, there is a small percentage of people, that no matter which laser is used, grow MORE hair and not less hair. It’s hard to get an accurate percentage but estimates are about 5% of those who try laser hair removal. You may be one of that small percentage and need to wax, try an Nd:YAG hair removal laser, or do electrolysis.
