White spots on the chest and neck – a question from Fiji.
Hi Joana, I want you to promise me that if these don’t go away that you’ll see a doctor there! So just a thought, we all have good yeasts and good bacteria that live on our skin and help keep it healthy. Sometimes the balance of those gets a little off. When yeasts overgrow on the skin, it can sometimes cause white spots that are just very slightly scaly. Using something like clotrimazole/Lotrimin which is just a drugstore cream may help.
Sometimes this yeast overgrowth can be an early sign of diabetes which is why you need to see your doctor if it doesn’t go away. Also, if you eat yogurt or take probiotics internally it helps. Also avoid that junk food!! The less stuff with sugar and flour you eat, the better!
Hope this helps, Dr. I
