When to get concerned regarding swelling after fillers?
Your welcome! A couple of thoughts on this:
- It’s normal to have a small to moderate amount of swelling after a filler treatment. If it’s a lot or a lot more than normal, please sure to call your doctor.
- It takes about a week for the filler to “mature” after injection. Meaning – it will naturally move a little to fit your contours and adjust somewhat to the movements of your facial muscles. After a week or so, if it has migrated or there are lumps or bumps, call your doctor.
- Remember that experienced, board certified dermatologists know how to adjust and fix most problems after injections. If it isn’t what you were expecting after a week, CALL!
REMEMBER – small or moderate bruising is normal. A large or particularly dark bruise may be a sign of a more serious complication (and impending tissue death). Please call your doctor if you are not sure.
Hope this helps, Dr. I
