Does Body Thermage Work?
In my opinion, the prior attempts at a body tip by Thermage have been plagued with problems. Painful, minimal to no results, expensive and tedius. In other words, not worth the money and time. The third generation facial tips are well worth it and another story.
Finally though, Thermage has completely reengineered and recreated it’s body tip and it seems to be working well if expectations are kept realistic. It’s a treatment tip specifically designed for the body’s thicker skin and this tip is large enough to reach the collagen there and that should make a difference. The reason I’m hesitating a little is that the tip just recently launched and so only time will tell. It takes about 12-18 months of use to be completely confident in a new technology.
Thermage results are almost never as dramatic as the the before and after photos that show the shrink-wrapped stomachs or glutes. But I think the new body tip will give good results, and is definitely worth considering for mild to moderate tightening of the abdomen, upper arms, thighs and glutes. I’ll keep you updated on this.
I had my abdomen treated, and it’s mildly uncomfortable (I thought about 3-4 on a scale of 1-10 with a few spots more zingy). The treatments (depending on the size of the area) should take 1-2 hours. I can already see tightening (none with the previous tips), and it will tighten more over the next 3-6 months. I was using it for that excess skin right above my C-section scar (3 children – 1 set of twins), and to smooth the skin there in general. Very happy with results so far and we are doing patients now.
