I burned my skin with a home IPL device, what now??

Hi, I recently did a big no no on my cheek, I did an at home IPL on a few brown spots and it burnt my skin. It has finally healed with help from my dermatologist (ointments) however now they are even worse than before, the spots are very hyperpigmented, and slightly indented, I have several creams and wanted your opinion on what would work the best and quickest? The obliage nu derm system, retin A with the hydroquione 4% and vitamin c 25%? I am desperate for a quick fix!! Thanks

Everyone please – be careful with these home devices!!  They are easy to overdo.   I didn’t see where you mention your skin type.  One thing to remember is that the darker your skin, the longer this will take to resolve, even with treatment. And triple sunscreening those spots is your best friend.

I wish I could tell you that there is a quick fix even with good treatment, but I’d not be telling the truth!  Generally, it takes about 30-90 days for this to gradually fade but it can take longer.  The two systems you mention are both very similar actually.  Many of the Obagi systems contain hydroquinones and Retin A (tretinoin) also.  Since they are quite similar, I’d vote for the least expensive one.

Please remember that a small percentage of people get worse with hydroquinones.  Be sure to stop it if that’s the case for you.     Hope this helps,  Dr. I

SkinTour Skincare
One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes! I have handpicked some of what I consider to be the best skin care products, and offer them for sale on SkinTour's shop. This is based on my team and I's testing and research at our clinic. Many of the products are in my own regimen. What could be better than using skin care products a dermatologist uses?!
