I burned my skin with a home IPL device, what now??
Everyone please – be careful with these home devices!! They are easy to overdo. I didn’t see where you mention your skin type. One thing to remember is that the darker your skin, the longer this will take to resolve, even with treatment. And triple sunscreening those spots is your best friend.
I wish I could tell you that there is a quick fix even with good treatment, but I’d not be telling the truth! Generally, it takes about 30-90 days for this to gradually fade but it can take longer. The two systems you mention are both very similar actually. Many of the Obagi systems contain hydroquinones and Retin A (tretinoin) also. Since they are quite similar, I’d vote for the least expensive one.
Please remember that a small percentage of people get worse with hydroquinones. Be sure to stop it if that’s the case for you. Hope this helps, Dr. I
