Worse pigmentation with Obaji products!

Dr Irwin, I made the horrible mistake of putting obagi products on my face. I had even skin before and it made me get discoulration, I went to my dr and they made me stay on it bc apparently it was normal? well i stuck it out for the 17 weeks they said and then threw in the towel. My discoluration was a little better but now has been darking I have no idea what to do bc I ve never had this before and it was a result of this awful product. do yiu have any suggestions? I am set to marry in feb and i cant have bloched uo skin.

Here’s a link that will help on pigmentation problems.  But just to reassure you, this should resolve by the wedding if you let your skin rest and use:

  • Gentle cleanser twice a day. CeraVe or Cetaphil lotion cleansers are fine
  • A bland and gentle moisturizer twice a day or more if you’re dry
  • A good sunscreen with at least zinc 10% every morning with a non irritating foundation over it – even better if the foundation has a little sunscreen – try the Jane Iredale mineral powders.
  • Very gentle exfoliation with a wash cloth (no scrub for now) twice a week. The key word is gentle.
  • If anything stings, burns or makes you feel dry, don’t use it!

If you aren’t improving in a few weeks, please see a different dermatologist.

Good luck!  Dr. I

SkinTour Skincare
One of the best investments in your skin is your daily skincare. Why? Because you can prevent many problems with blotchy skin color, lack of glow, texture, some types of acne, and fine lines with good skincare products. You can also correct some of these problems with effective skincare products. Great skincare is often more expensive because quality ingredients are expensive. Some companies spend on research/development which benefits all of us and adds to the cost. Are they worth it? In general - yes! I have handpicked some of what I consider to be the best skin care products, and offer them for sale on SkinTour's shop. This is based on my team and I's testing and research at our clinic. Many of the products are in my own regimen. What could be better than using skin care products a dermatologist uses?!
