Which laser is better for redness – V Beam or the Genesis laser.

Hi Dr. Irwin. I'm wondering what is your opinion on V-Beam and Laser Genesis for redness?

My vote would be the V Beam, and if you also have a brown spots, consider an IPL as an alternative.   The V Beam is made by Candela/Syneron and the Genesis by Cutera.  Here’s why.

Candela has made for the past 15 years and continues to make the pulsed dye lasers that are so effective, if just redness is the issue.  They are still the gold standard, in my opinion, in this area.   The Cutera Genesis is a much longer wavelength which is generally not as effective for redness.

Alternatively, a powerful IPL (not the salon versions), for example like the one Lumenis makes, will target all but the most stubborn red, lighter brown spots, and also stimulate more collagen.  More on this topic.
